We've written about a number of cool businesses in the kō denmark blog, but we're excited to see and hear about the success of Bag, Borrow, or Steal. The Seattle based company is being featured in the upcoming release of Sex and the City: The Movie. What better place to draw attention to one of Seattle's trend setting companies?
PS: I'm sure Carrie Bradshaw (or Sarah Jessica Parker) would love our products.

kō denmark now at Olivine and Ann Marie Lingerie
It's been a few weeks since our last post, but things are still moving at kō denmark. For starters, our products can now be found at two more great boutiques in Seattle.
In Ballard, we can be found at Olivine, a fabulous fashion boutique and beauty lounge, which the owners describe as "the ultimate girl store". In Madison Park, we're pleased to be featured at Ann Marie Lingerie, alongside some of the finest lingerie in Seattle.

keeping it real at kō denmark
we try to keep everything “real” at kō denmark – from our lotion formulation to the pure essential oils and essences we use to fragrance the product.we also love working with friends and respected colleagues to build our business. jules frazier and kelly smith are good friends of ours, and both talented photographers.
we worked with jules to on product shots for our website and marketing collateral. kelly provided us with another perspective, capturing our product in more abstract settings and focusing on specific elements of our packaging.
From Seattle to St. Barth's
we’re working with a limited number of boutiques, spas, and retailers to bring kō denmark’s products to market. although most of our efforts have been local to the seattle area, we secured our first international partner on our favorite island in the french caribbean, st. barthelemy.
our relationship with Dagmar at the Kokon boutique started a few years back. i fell in love with Kokon’s dedication to the stylish danish fashion lines from DAY Birger et Mikkelsen and the more recent addition of By Malene Birger. i stayed in contact with Dagmar through the development of our jasmine + neroli body lotion, and recently visited with her in st. barth’s.
today, our products can be found on st. barth’s at Kokon (ko products can be found at Kokon in gustavia – rue fahlberg, St. Barthelemy +590-590-29-74-48, email: kokon@wanadoo.fr)

More Boutiques Carrying kō Products
we’re starting to see more momentum in the Pacific Northwest.
i’ve tried to share the enthusiasm and excitement with every new location where kō denmark products can be purchased. our products are offered from the great people at Pulp Lab, Essenza, WaxOn, and La Rousse. we love working with these boutiques, because they emphasize uniqueness, style, and quality with every product they sell.
i try to spend time with new and existing partners to build awareness of our products and the vision behind our company.

Taking Seattle by Storm
Tonight was awesome. A good friend, Laura Henderson, hosted a kō denmark launch event in Seattle. It's always great to share our product with friends and new faces. We got great feedback from everyone that participated. Thanks Laura and everyone that's been so supportive through the initial launch period.

Modern Design AND Business with a Conscience
Clean modern design is a big part of the kō denmark brand and our products. Our design inspiration comes mostly from my Scandinavian heritage, where we are raised with the principle that "less is more". Simple can be beautiful.Another Seattle business that deserves special recognition from our point of view is glassybaby. Their handblown glass products are modern and sensible examples of how simple can be beautiful.
The founder of glassybaby, Lee Rhodes, is also an inspiration for so many reasons. She's an entrepreneur and a cancer survivor with a sensible taste for modern design. Lee kindly shares her success with charitable organizations through the glassybaby goodwill program.
We hope to follow in Lee's footsteps as we build our business and expand our product line.
**UPDATE on 18 Feb 2008** It looks like others have recognized the success and vision behind Lee's brilliance! Check out today's article from the Seattle PI: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/351463_retail16.html

Customers come from all sorts of places...

We like to keep things simple at kō denmark. When it comes to distributing our products, we're focusing on a very simple strategy to communicate about the product and find our voice in a crowded marketplace.
Our first priority is to work with our retail partners to get the product in front of their customers and to help them communicate the value customers receive when they are buying premium natural products with no artificial fragrances.
Second, we've launched a website with a secure PayPal payment system to help us process orders. We're starting to see orders through the web, but we're always looking for feedback or ideas on how to make the process better.
Third, we're experimenting with ads on social networks to get a sense of online advertisements and the ability to target specific demographics. We started with Facebook, because it was easiest to set-up a kō denmark page and run our initial ad campaigns. We're also exploring ad placement on aSmallWorld and we're always seeking weblogs that are focused on our category. Let us know if you have suggestions on elevate the exposure of our brand and our retailers.

Inspiration from Seattle Women in Business
kō denmark's launch has opened my eyes to a thriving community of entrepreneurial women in Seattle. We've been inspired by so many friends, family, and entrepreneurs -- especially other women with their own businesses!
We've observed and learned from a great deal of Seattle-based women that are running businesses: Satsuma Designs, French Fifty, Antica Farmacista, Zovo Lingerie, Canlis Glass, La Rousse, Butter London, Jules Frazier, In Your Head, and Anthousa Collection. The creative minds and entrepreneurs behind these businesses are truly inspiring!
Some are mothers, some are models, some are photographers, some are fashonistas, some are imports from Europe (like me!), but all of these women are talented and dedicated! Seattle entrepreneur Kelly Smith has also provided great feedback on design and packaging.

La Rousse now carrying kō products
kō denmark proudly announces the addition of La Rousse to our growing family of retail locations that have our product. La Rousse is a wonderful boutique in Seattle with amazing lines of clothing, jewelery, and accessories. We love Amanda's cutting-edge styles and willingness to introduce unique products that aren't usually found in some of the larger stores around Seattle. Check them out when you have a chance!
